Harper’s Playground: Inclusive Playgrounds Part Two

This is part two of my inclusive playgrounds posts. I will highlight a few of my favorite projects. These sites peaked my interest as inclusive and incorporating lots of nature elements. They had elements or imagery that really seemed to click for the design work I do. Most of them elegantly (in least some part) address the question of how to connect kids with nature in an inclusive way.

If you missed the first inclusive post you can see it here.

Harper’s Playground – Portland OR

The playground is probably best described by the words of Harpers father, Cody Goldberg, “Our community playground was off-limits to our daughter because she uses wheels to get around. We founded Harper’s Playground to change this. We assembled a team of top designers and shared our vision. We asked for and received help from many. The playground went from  dream to reality. We are thrilled with the outcomes, and invite you to come enjoy it with your family. We know you will find that  a well  designed  inclusive play area is truly better… for everyone!  We are proud that Harper’s Playground promotes more play for more people.  We embrace these three powerful and important forces for a better world; COMMUNITY – INCLUSION – PLAY!!!” Harper’s Playground has grown into a consulting firm for inclusive play. You can learn more about them here.
